Family Pics... Disappointment turned Excitement

Last weekend we were supposed to have our family pictures made by the wonderful Jemimah Sandifer but Dylan had other plans... He started running fever Friday afternoon and I was afraid we'd have to cancel. However, with Tylenol and Motrin he acted totally fine! So we talked to Jemimah and planned to go ahead and have pics the next morning unless his fever spiked during the night or something else changed.

I went ahead and ironed all of our clothes and grabbed the stuff we were going to use for props so we were ready to go in the am. But like I said Dylan had other plans... He woke up the next morning with fever, but we knew Motrin would do the trick. BUT it was going to be 40 at picture time so Brian was the voice of logic and said it wasn't a good idea to take him out in the cold weather.

So trying to do what was best for him we had to cancel our pics. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement, I was very very very bummed and even cried a little. (Dramatic sounding I know...) See the wonderful Jemimah lives in Phoenix and is only in our neck of the woods once or twice a year. So when she comes we take pictures!! She's that good!

God must have realized how disappointed I was and decided to have Mackenzie agree to take pictures which is a VERY rare occassion! I asked her if we could go that afternoon just me and her and take some pictures, and go to Sonic afterwards! She agreed very easily which was surprising! Dylan ended up being happy and fine again after nap so we took him along for the ride too.

The pictures I ended up with made me very happy and took the edge off cancelling our family pics!! Here are some of them below.

My absolute favorite pic! I die laughing everytime I see it!!

This picture of them just melts my heart!

I love how she's looking off camera for this one!

Anytime Mackenzie's smile starts freezing up I get her to make silly faces for me and it does the trick! And of course makes for great pictures!

The rare shot of them both looking and smiling!

I love the way I caught the light in this one!

I could start at this picture for hours!! Those eyes are KILLER!

Throwing the FOO-BALL!

My grinning boy!

This look gets us every time!!

Dylan learned this trick a couple of weeks ago at a friend's birthday party, and it made for a great photo op!

Sweet kiddos!

I love this one! I really like the picture sitting beside him on the bench and his favortie thing in the world... a ball! Our friend Mary painted this for Dylan before he was born. It's one of my favorite things he has!

This one has me speechless.

My sweet girl posing again for me!
