Lunch and Fun at the Park

On Sunday after church we decided to take the kids to eat lunch at the park and play a little bit since the weather was so gorgeous! We don't get a chance to play outside after work anymore because its pitch black at like 3 pm these days! Plus the weather will be changing soon so we were trying to enjoy it while we could!

These kiddos make me laugh!

Bet you can't guess what he's excited about by looking at the evidence on his face!

I LOVE his face in this one even if he is squeezing banana thru his teeth!

Trying for a sweet pic with her arm around her brother, but she was too busy wolfing down her banana so she could go play!

Surprise! It's Mackenzie!

LOVING sliding!

Laughing hysterically at each other!

Pulling him off the slide! He was ROLLING!

He LOVED the park this time around!

Beautiful fall day!

Running after the soccer ball!

Love this picture! Trying to get his attention with a ball!

Rolling around in the grass

I don't know what it is about this picture, but it melts my heart!

I love this picture for SOOO many reasons!

See it still curls even after the haircut!!

My honey!!

I die for a profile picture!!

Family Pics... Disappointment turned Excitement

Last weekend we were supposed to have our family pictures made by the wonderful Jemimah Sandifer but Dylan had other plans... He started running fever Friday afternoon and I was afraid we'd have to cancel. However, with Tylenol and Motrin he acted totally fine! So we talked to Jemimah and planned to go ahead and have pics the next morning unless his fever spiked during the night or something else changed.

I went ahead and ironed all of our clothes and grabbed the stuff we were going to use for props so we were ready to go in the am. But like I said Dylan had other plans... He woke up the next morning with fever, but we knew Motrin would do the trick. BUT it was going to be 40 at picture time so Brian was the voice of logic and said it wasn't a good idea to take him out in the cold weather.

So trying to do what was best for him we had to cancel our pics. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement, I was very very very bummed and even cried a little. (Dramatic sounding I know...) See the wonderful Jemimah lives in Phoenix and is only in our neck of the woods once or twice a year. So when she comes we take pictures!! She's that good!

God must have realized how disappointed I was and decided to have Mackenzie agree to take pictures which is a VERY rare occassion! I asked her if we could go that afternoon just me and her and take some pictures, and go to Sonic afterwards! She agreed very easily which was surprising! Dylan ended up being happy and fine again after nap so we took him along for the ride too.

The pictures I ended up with made me very happy and took the edge off cancelling our family pics!! Here are some of them below.

My absolute favorite pic! I die laughing everytime I see it!!

This picture of them just melts my heart!

I love how she's looking off camera for this one!

Anytime Mackenzie's smile starts freezing up I get her to make silly faces for me and it does the trick! And of course makes for great pictures!

The rare shot of them both looking and smiling!

I love the way I caught the light in this one!

I could start at this picture for hours!! Those eyes are KILLER!

Throwing the FOO-BALL!

My grinning boy!

This look gets us every time!!

Dylan learned this trick a couple of weeks ago at a friend's birthday party, and it made for a great photo op!

Sweet kiddos!

I love this one! I really like the picture sitting beside him on the bench and his favortie thing in the world... a ball! Our friend Mary painted this for Dylan before he was born. It's one of my favorite things he has!

This one has me speechless.

My sweet girl posing again for me!

Big Haircut

Today was the day of Dylan's first "real" haircut... (He had the front part trimmed a while back but this was the first all over hair cut) He's been needing a haircut for a while because its gotten so long and by the end of the day it gets crazy and out of control. But a certain Mommy couldn't bear the thought of cutting all the curls in case they didn't come back!! Brian has been making comments about it for awhile so I finally decided it was time. I kept putting it off because of the family pics we were supposed to have last weekend, but knew I couldn't wait any longer...

So last week I bit the bullet and scheduled his appt. I walked in today and told Monica I was going to be a big girl and not cry! I didn't because I was trying to keep him still. But now looking at the pics makes me sad! I think the haircut is too cute but it makes me sad because he looks like such a little boy now and all my curls are gone! I played with his hair all the time and it was one of my fave things about him! (Sad to admit with a boy I guess...) Good news is that his hair still curls!! So thankfully that helps me not be so sad!

Well without further ado...

Before

Really long and kinda crazy.

After

Look it still curls!!

From the front. It's not as short in the front as it looks. Is just pushed back and I was rushing to get a picture.

Another back view. He looks like such a big boy!!

I'll take some "real" pics this weekend and post more then.

Watch out sucker... you never know when this monster is going to attack!

My beautiful fairy! She decided to add the flowers when we visited my grandmother. Maybe she was trying to make up for the wings we left at home on Halloween night!

Crazy Day!!

This week is Red Ribbon week at Mackenzie's school. So they've got an anti drug theme everyday to reinforce the overall message of the week.

Yesterday was CRAZY day... and any of Mackenzie's normal clothes would be considered crazy, I mean come on she dresses like Punky Brewster, but of course that wouldn't work! So here's what we ended up with...

Different polka dotted soccer socks, mismatched shoes, a striped shirt, and a tutu!!

Surprise!! The soccer socks are pulled up all the way to the plaid shorts hiding underneath!!

CRAZY HAIR!!! 3 pigtails!!

Talk about a shocker!

Check out what my little big boy wanted to do tonight!

I told him I had to go tee tee and he took off! I followed him and thought he was just going to my bathroom, but nope, he went into what will be the kids bathroom backed up to the toilet and pulled up his shirt! I was shocked but knew what it meant... I pulled his shorts down, took off his diaper and held him on the big potty. His face lit up and he grinned from ear to ear!! He looked like he was even "concentrating"! Ha! When he "finished" I went and got the little potty and seat for the big potty just so we had them for the next time he was interested. Well the next time was then! He wanted to sit on the little potty but kind of fussed until I pulled his shorts down and took off his diaper again! Then he grinned from ear to ear!!

I've always heard boys are harder to potty train and I have no grand hopes that he'll be potty trained tomorrow but it definitely was encouraging to see some excitement! Because trust me... There are many many many temper meltdowns to come during the potty training process!

Boy potty training... Ugh! Brian?? Where are you???
