The Maiden Voyage

We left for Disney almost 2 weeks ago at 6:30 in the morning to embark on the long drive to Orlando... It was supposed to be 14 hours but I think it ended up taking around 16, HELLO we had two 2 year olds and a 4 year old who needed to get out and move around occasionally. I think that was good time! Anyway we went with our good friends Lorne & Heather Vaclaw and their precious kiddos Mitchell and Rylee. (Rylee is 1 day older than Mackie) We all rode together in their car in order to cut the gas bill in half. With gas prices, that long of a trip, and SUV's it was a GREAT idea... thanks Lorne! We were hoping things would go well, but anticipating the worst... I told Heather about the best thing that my Mom used to do for us when we went on vacations. She got us "prizes" that we got every so often on the way down there as long as we were behaving. It's one of the fondest memories I have of family vacations!!! THANKS MOM!! Well they were SUCH a hit with our kids!! We didn't even have to start movies until like 4 hours into the trip. It turned out to be a good thing that we compared presents because the one present that wasn't the same for the girls was meltdown central for Mackenzie. The biggest hit of all the presents was these keys that had 3 buttons that made noise from the Family Dollar. Mackie and Mitchell got Mickey while Rylee got the princesses. They LOVED the keys and played with them the entire week! They were our secret weapon all week! The kids were really great and even took naps in the car! Which is amazing considering how my child does not sleep in the car!

Mackie in the hotel room the first night getting ready to go to sleep. (She slept in the big bed by herself all week long!)
